Dark Brown Fortune Cookies...?
So, Nate started training this week. Hurray! He's having fun. He looks really cute in his business casual attire. I quite like it. He got his lap top which is pretty sweet. The past couple of nights he has stayed later at work for little socials. Well last night it was for an ice cream social, and tonight he stayed for some murder mystery dinner? Who knows...So since I worked really hard today on finding a job I decided to treat myself to Chinese because I've been craving it since we got here. I found a Chinese restaurant less than three blocks from where we are staying, and I just thought I'd try the first one I saw. It was pleasantly delightful and just what I needed after such a busy day! I woke up to tell Nate goodbye and then got ready for my 2nd interview in NYC. While I was getting ready I got a phone call from a lady who wanted to meet with me about an ad I replied to on Craigslist. I was totally exited for another interview and also very nervous because it meant I had to get myself to another part of the city without Nate! But I did very well! I got to all three of my appointments today without any trouble. I did well to squeeze this one in the middle. I'm on my way to becoming a true New Yorker. (Maybe...) Now I have decisions to make because as I said I had three interviews just today. I was proud of myself for turning my first job offer down. Retail...BLAH! extremely cute baby boutique owned by Pottery Barn, but I wasn't feelin it after the interview. So since all three interviews went really well I'm just waiting to hear from one so that I can make my final decision. Two of the jobs are really similar but the difference is the position that I would have. Assistant Teacher or Co-Director?! And the third is for a babysitting position for two adorable boys named Henry and Jack. I'd spend most of the time with the 6th month old Henry cause Jack would be in Preschool. Well, the point of this blog was to do with fortune cookies--the dark brown fortune cookie that came with my dinner. I'd never seen one like it before! I didn't know if it was burnt or what. It had a slight chocolate flavor, so I checked the back to find out the ingredients. Sure enough, cocoa was in there. I must say I prefer the original fortune cookies. I might have to find another Chinese restaurant after that. J/K! It was great, but the best part was what my fortune said..."Trust your intuition. The Universe is guiding your life." This made me feel better! lots better. Honestly though, Heavenly Father has helped Nate and I through this whole transitional time. One person led to another contact which led to us finding people to stay with in New York. And we were guided and prompted to find our new apartment. And I know that Heavenly Father continues to bless us as I look for work and Nathan spends his time with PWC. I really think we are going to like it here once we get accustomed to the life style, and once we have some money to play with!!! That'll be a plus. Anyway, the "a" key on my lap top is busted and its really bothering me. xoxo

We Made It!
We've been in New York City since last thursday. We had fun traveling and we had a really cool taxi driver named Danny who would make a great member of the church. He was so awesome and his family meant everything to him. We were grateful to get an awesome driver who spoke english! We spent a good hour or two with him, and he gave us the heads up on New York. He said, "Just be smart. Don't do something you wouldn't do in any other city...like walk down a dark alley way." He was a true New Yorker...Long Islander I should say. Nate and I had a funny experience our first day with the transportation system here in the city. We knew that we needed a monthly metro pass, but we had to take the bus to the subway station to purchase them first. So we hop on the bus, come to find out they don't accept dollar bills, only change. We had to pay 4 dollars in change and we only had like 2 or 3 in change. So we took a seat at the front of the bus. A bunch of old ladies started to get on the bus and they all sat up front by us. We started to ask them if they had any change. We even told them that we'd give them a dollar for 35 cents. They were very nice and they all gave us what they could. We finally had our four dollars and we paid and took a seat again. They asked us where we were from (obviously not New York because we didn't know you needed change for the bus.) They told us to tell everyone that true New Yorkers are nice and that they'd do the same for us ( tell people that Texans are nice...But I'm definitely not a Texan!!! yet...we'll see.) Then one lady said, excuse me...this part of the bus is for, and then she stopped. I looked around and realized it was for the elderly and handicapped. So we gladly said thanks and took our spot at the back of the bus. We've learned that we prefer the back of the bus though because there is better air circulation! We are getting the hang of the subways and busses. We spent our first few days on a mad apartment search. Every time we thought we had one we liked we changed our minds. Finally, we started all over and randomly called some ads that we found on craigslist. We went and saw one of those apartments monday evening and decided we loved it. We were just looking on the wrong side of the east river before. The apartment is just a block away from a gorgeous park and fabulous view of the east river. We met with another person the next morning to check out some others just in case, and the guy just took us to a building and showed us every single apartment. By the third apartment we had the idea. They all looked the exact same!!! So I got us away from him quick. I told him thanks and we'd call him that afternoon, but we had another appointment that we needed to get to. Nate isn't always bold enough to get out of situations, so I've learned to speak up! It's been quite an experience. We've been all over this city. Seriously. We weren't really prepared physically for all of the walking and hiking. In the apartment we are subletting right now, we are on the third floor. On the apartment that we are signing the lease for, we will be on the 5th floor. I'm pretty sure that we're going to get in shape while we're here. We've decided that it is no fun to live in such a fun city and not have any money to go play. But we will eventually. I have my first job interview on friday with a store called Threads. It is owned by Pottery Barn and it is a baby boutique. I really hope I get the job. I've applied to nanny positions and substitute teacher positions, and other stuff and this is the only interview I've gotten so far. We'll see. It is pretty close to where our new apartment is going to be on the Upper East Side. We got to go to the Manhattan temple today. It was way cool and so nice to feel such peace in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. We get to move into our new place on the first of September! It is way cute. There are french doors to the bedroom. Nate loves them more than I do! haha. For now we are getting used to PB& J and mac & cheese. Gotta love it!

Rexburgian Friends!
This is Chelsea and Nate! They lived above us!

Surprise Surprise! This is Nathan! Bet you didn't expect to hear my voice! We miss y'all!
okay so that was all that Nate had to say...He isn't big on blogging YET. Hopefully once we get to NYC he'll have something more to say. These are pics from our last night with some of our ward friends in rexburg. Sadly Alisha and Travis weren't in the picture. Alisha has taken to sleeping early since her pregnancy began, but we still love 'em! Also, Scott and Melinda were absent from this late night photo shoot. We were blessed with wonderful friends in our ward.

Graduation
Nathan and I graduated on July 18th from BYU-Idaho. We had a great semester. We both worked extra hard our last semester. He received his BA in Accounting, and I completed my two years to earn my AS in Generals. His parents came out to Idaho from Texas, and my mom and brothers also were able to come and stay with us for graduation. It was a blessing to have them all there. It made moving and cleaning the apartment easier too! I'm very proud of Nate. He smiled the entire day! We'll both miss BYU-IWe will miss our friends in Rexburg very much. We had an awesome ward, but we're looking forward to our new life in NYC.

TEXAS
We made it to texas! This is my sister in law Sam. She and I have fun being goofballs together. We woke up this morning and both got dressed separately, come to find out we had the same idea. Pink shirts and khaki shorts! Gotta love it. She made my day yesterday because we found out that we both love some of the same musicals...Cinderella with Brandy! a classic. Today the fam went to see Batman at the I-MAX theatre. We took some fun pictures. Nate and I love this panda! We haven't seen Kung Fu Panda yet though.
