IV Real!

Nate and I had an amazing weekend! We went to the temple on friday night for the last session. It downpoured right before we left, but we went anyway and I'm so glad. Then Saturday morning Nate won tickets at the In the Heights Lottery for the matinee show. It was sooo good. We loved it! Then, as we were leaving the theatre I noticed some people were taking pictures and kind of crowding around someone. We walked over to see what was going on and sure enough it was our "friend" Joshua Allen!! The winner of So You Think You Can Dance last season. I love this boy! Nate called his name and he turned around. We got to shake his hand and talk to him and get his autograph. He is adorable and very down to earth. Joshua asked Nate to hold his cup while he signed his autograph for us, and then he stuck his hand back out to grab the cup and Nate shook it. I didn't realize he was holding Josh's cup either so I shook his hand again too. Then he said, "Hey, are you gonna keep my cup?!" Had to be there but it was hilarious. Nate and I were both nervous. It was so fun to see him and especially since Nate and I both liked him and Twitch and Katie last season. I told Joshua that I loved him and congrats on winning. We are so goofy, I know.

The Story

Last weekend was a fun weekend for us, as most weekends prove to be when we are together. Saturday morning we got up and helped clean the church with some friends in the ward. After we went out for brunch at a fun diner called the Mansion (Michael and Shannon eat there every Saturday because it is that delicious!) Nate was due for another hair cut so we took care of that. Then, Nate had a brilliant idea to go stalk NFL players who would be in town for the NFL draft. SIDE NOTE: I think that Nate's secret dream career is that of a Paparazzi or something to do with advertising. He also talks about writing lots of books about random topics. He always says, I'm going to write a book about ... and people at his work all ask him how his books are going?! hehe. That's Nathan for ya. Back to the story, I went along with his idea and we went down to Rockefeller center. Sure enough, knowing Nathan, he found his way into a line and ended up with two tickets into the draft. Can you imagine his excitement?! It was pretty funny! I wasn't very enthusiastic and I wished that someone who could have appreciated it more would have been with him, but none the less it was cool to say we were there. Nate likes to be loud at games and sporting events and likes to get memorabilia, so I wasn't surprised to see him cheering with a crowd of SF49 fans when their pick was up. We both got little bags that say NFL draft 2009 as you can see in the picture and overall it was fun. We only stayed for maybe 5 picks and then we went to YOgurtland with Michael and Shannon. It was way fun to hangout with them, it had been a while. At Yogurtland (which is so yummy, I could eat that everyday!!! too bad its a good trek to get there) I immediately spotted a model from America's Next Top Model. I knew it was her but was to shy to say anything. We were standing right next to her so Nate asked her if she was on that show? She smiled and said yes. She was surprised that Nate watched the show. I piped up and said "I make him!" haha. But we enjoy watching it together. She was really cool and said that she lives in SOHO if we know any stalkers. Just before she paid Nate went back up to her and asked if he could get a picture of her with me. I couldn't believe how nervous I was. I never get nervous for famous people, but I was totally nervous for some reason. So that picture is of me and Ceilia from ANTM. She almost got booted off the show last night. I don't think she'll win the whole thing, but she is great at fashion. The other night when Nate and I were watching our shows...(Biggest Loser, ANTM, and American Idol) there was a commercial for the new season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!!! I about peed my pants with excitement. I never thought my life would come to this...getting excited about reality tv shows! gah I'm pathetic, but I love love love SYTYCD. Lets be honest, this is the first time in my entire life that I have ever watched a full season of anything. I had never even seen Biggest Loser or American Idol until this season, not to justify my time killers. Nate and I hardly watched tv in college, and the whole reason I got hooked on my shows that I watch now is because I saw marathons of them over the weekends last year. SO now that we have a DVR we get our TV fix in. I have started school again though so I've been staying busy. Nate's work has been going fine and he hasn't had a really late night in quite some time, now that I say that he won't come home until 11 tonight. hope not. We are excited to run a 5k tomorrow morning and then to have the missionaries over in the afternoon. It should be another good weekend!

Hello Goodbye March

Anne Hathaway

Madonna
Valentino

March has been crazy to say the least. Nate's parents came the last week in Feb. through the first week of March. We had a great time with them. They stayed with us for a few days and then they stayed at a hotel the last couple of days and enjoyed themselves inside from the cold while Nate and I worked. We had fun going to visit them both nights. They spoiled us for sure. My favorite part was watching the Bachelor in bed with them. I'd never seen it before but we couldn't miss the finale. It was a good week for them to visit because Nate got off at a decent hour most nights.

The next couple of weeks went by. Then, on the 13th my mom and brothers Jake and Josh came to visit. It was a long trip for them, but it kind of needed to be because Nate and I worked a lot while they were here and we did most of our fun stuff with them on the weekends. They loved the city, didn't love our 5 flights of stairs, but the stairs are good for us all. We spent most of our time in Time Square or 5th Ave near 59th st where FAO Schwarz is. Jake and Josh loved that store and Jake picked up a new hobby while he was here..Myachi or something. Like a hand hakki-sack. We went ice skating in Central Park, saw Shrek on Broadway, gave Nate a mini surprise b-day (nothing tops Nate's surprise party last year with all of his friends...but we tried to make it special for him), and on his birthday we went to the Olive Garden. That night we took a different way home, accidentally got off the subway a stop early and ended up back at the plaza hotel by 59th and 5th ave again where I said we spent a lot of our time. It was nearly midnight when I noticed Oprah's friend Gale King standing across the street from us waiting to get into her car. Then Nate noticed all of the paparazzi and we went over to see what was going on. We stood around for a bit and different people kept coming out. Rumor was that Madonna and Gwen Staffani were inside. Sure enough we saw Madonna, Anne Hathaway, Valentino, and lots of models and stars that we weren't as familiar with. Nate turned into a paparazzi and he was even comparing his pictures with all of them. It was hilarious! He enjoyed himself "thoroughly!" Anyone who knows Nate knows that "thoroughly" is one of his favorite words that he uses a little too often. My mom and I just laughed as Nate suddenly mustered up enough energy to stalk famous people and get autographs of Russian models that he didn't even know. (and he won't let me throw away that model's autograph...like he knows her? She said "ooh Nathan!" with her accent and it bothered me because she liked the attention a lot! hehe But Anne Hathaway is a doll! And Valentino really is tan! holy moly. We had fun. Josh was bored out of his mind, but waited patiently. He isn't pictured too much above but he was so cute and fun to be with while he was here. Jake and Josh had their brotherly moments, but that's life. Josh loved loved China Town! He bought tons of stuff. Jake & I on the other hand weren't such fans but for different reasons. Some dumb China woman kicked me out of her store very rudely because I couldn't decided fast enough what I wanted.

Overall, we were very blessed to have our families come to visit! We've been in the city almost 8 months. Time flies when you are having fun!...well not all of this time has flown but we're growing and learning a lot. This week I had a couple of days off because the Gibsons went to Puerto Rico. I can't wait to see Sadie in the morning and see how their trip was. I finally went and got my pedicure that they gave me for my b-day. It was fun! I'd never had one before. How lame am I?

This upcoming weekend my cousin Kristen is moving to Pennsylvania to nanny so we are planning a weekend get away to go visit her and my aunt and uncle. IT should be fun to rent a car and take a roadtrip. I love Nathan! He's a sweetheart. We've enjoyed our weekend together.
