We Can Do Hard Things
Music speaks powerfully to me. This song by Kristin Chenoweth has a special place in my heart because it reminds me of a dear friend and her family from my hometown. Recently I've been really touched by another family who has faced the trial of losing a loved one. You can read the Sullenger's story here. Something that I've gained from reading about their trials and testimony is that we can all do hard things. As families, friends, neighbors, & Americans we can make it through hard times and do hard things. Something I've realized though is that we can't always do it alone! Nate and I gave a lesson on service today and one of the quotes that we shared was this: "God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs" -President Spencer W. Kimball. We must always remember that God works through us and that we need one another. There are those who come to earth as Borrowed Angels, and in the time we have to know them on earth we are blessed. They change our lives and our world for the better. I think this song is a perfect way to pay tribute to those who we lost on 9/11. Living in New York City has really made the tragedy more real for me. I can never look at firemen or police officers in the city the same way after that day. I always get the chills. I'm grateful to live in this amazing city and country! I'm also very grateful for the strength and examples of so many who teach us to always rely upon our faith in Jesus Christ through hard times. I know that Christ loves all of us more than we can comprehend. I'm grateful for the truth of the gospel in my life, and for the knowledge of the plan of happiness. It brings a peace that is unexplainable, and without it I don't think I could do hard things.
